REACH

5th GRADE ESSAY CONTEST
Students participate in a national contest "What My Mother Means to Me."   Entries are accepted beginning every September 30th.  All entries must be received by the AMI State or National Essay Contest Chairman by February 20th.  Winners are announced at the end of March so the States are able to recognize their award recipients in time for Mother's Day.

The 2013 Alaska 5th Grade Essay Winner is Paige Searles.  Her essay, shown below, has been submitted to the National Essay Contest.

MOTHER MENTORING

AMI members train volunteers to mentor mothers who desire assistance with parenting skills

TEACH

PARENTING
Chapter study groups, the AMI website, and American Mother Magazine give mothers encouraging resources that help them become better parents.  Local, state, and national workshops and conferences are also available.  We recommend The Power of Positive Parenting by Dr. Glenn Latham.

SAFEGUARDS AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY
AMI educates families about the dangers of pornography and how to protect against it.

HONOR

MOTHER OF THE YEAR
Each year, a qualified, outstanding Mother is selected to represent her state.  A National Mother of the Year is chosen from this group

YOUNG MOTHER
An exemplary young mother may be chosen to represent her state.  A National Young Mother of the Year is then selected from these mothers.
